Project Description:
This was a new build home; the garden was empty excepting a lone shed. A big drop in level at the bottom of the garden gave way to lovely views out over the fields below. The brief was for a clean, contemporary garden.
The garden design has a Moorish influence – a formal rectangular lawn is flanked by standard Photinias – a bit like a pool of water – taking the eye up the garden and out to the view beyond.
A less formal raised bed and sun terrace was included at the end of the garden, along with an informal stretch of grass – places to sit, enjoy the view and catch the late afternoon summer sun.
The garden also featured informal paths and planting at the sides of the garden, lighting, and a retaining wall at the bottom of the garden. The latter was dip filled, making the garden seem much larger and enabling easy views out over the garden.
