Project Details

Location: East Garston

What we did: Design, Planting Plan, Construction (front and back garden)

  • Cost: Design Plan: £1300-£1500+VAT, Planting Plan: £500-700+VAT, Construction (front): £10-15,000+VAT, Construction (back) £35-40,000+VAT
  • The brief:
The focus of the design for the front was to create a simpler, more welcoming, softer look to the house to give more kerb appeal. For the back garden, the focus was to create more space for seating and entertaining that works with the levels and makes the most of the space available with easy access to all parts of the garden.
  • The design:
For the front garden, the existing harsh angles and high walls were removed and replaced with curving steps and smaller tiered planting beds. The use of curves gives a more sweeping entrance to the house and make access easier and safer.
  • The main focus of the design at the back was to create a larger patio outside of the house. A smaller patio was also added at the back of the garden to make the most of the sun’s aspect. The existing sleeper walls were removed, and the new retaining walls were designed to be less imposing and of brick to match the house and paving and give a warm finish. The curved bullnosed steps from the patio to the lawn tie the front to the back. The path at the side of the house elegantly connects the various levels of the garden, with curved corner steps up to the main patio and then a further slope up the side of the garden joining up with a gravel path to a second patio. The attractive ‘Antique Fossil Pearl’ limestone paving immediately brightens up the space.
  • The outcome:
The client now has a functional and adaptable space with beautifully designed steps, slopes and pathways which make the most of their interesting multi-level garden.
