Busy December Days!

Busy days leading up to Christmas for the ALDA Landscape team…

A question I am often asked at this time of year is how busy we are, with the assumption that this must be a quiet time for ALDA Landscapes. The answer often surprises the person asking – we’re in fact very busy! At our current design & build project at Binfield, we are working hard to finish our client’s garden in time for Christmas.

Many of our clients favour this time of year to have work done on their garden – and it makes good sense. Over the summer it can feel very disruptive to family life, with the potential mess involved in laying a patio or landscaping a garden – children for example may not be able to play outside whilst work is going on. Whereas at this time of year, our clients do not want or need to be in their garden as much. Instead they can watch its transformation day by day from the comfort of their warm home, knowing that come the BBQ season everything will be finished!

Our current design & build project at Binfield, where an Indian Sandstone patio has been laid in ‘buff brown’ and this week we are preparing the ground ready for a new lawn.

As regards our current build at Binfield, it has definitely helped my landscaping team that so far this winter has been kind to us, with no snow arriving to put a halt to proceedings! The damp December days have enabled us to have successfully laid a patio and to have started preparing the ground for a lawn to be installed. The mild weather will also allow the lawn to settle down ready for its first cut in the spring.

The paving chosen by our client for the patio area shown above is Indian Sandstone in the colour “buff brown”. The resin used to point in the paving is called ‘Rompox easy fill’, a good product to use on damp winter days as it can be applied in the drizzle. This resin also has quick drying and hard wearing properties.

By my reckoning, and considering our progress so far, we should have finished laying the lawn by early next week, in time for our client to enjoy their new garden over the Christmas festivities.
