As usual my visit to Chelsea this year didn’t disappoint – around every corner there were creative gems to inspire the senses. From the perfection of the show gardens to the show stopping colour and variety of plants on display in the Pavilion……
My wow moments at Chelsea 2017
This sculpture of a horse created entirely from horseshoes sits in ‘The World Horse Welfare’ artisan garden by Adam Woolcott & Jonathon Smith. Its genius is that it appears to have existed forever.
The simplicity of this artisan garden cleverly conjures up the feel of Barcelona. Gaudi’s influence can be seen in the multi coloured mosaic bench – a central piece in Sarah Eberie’s design.
The priceless bonsai trees speak for themselves, this stand – Mendip Bonsai Studio – drew lots of admirers!
Pink is in fashion – whether the palest shade through to the mid to deep pinks as seen in the planting design of Hillier Nurseries in the Pavilion.
A stunning installation of 15,000 cascading pink carnations in decreasing depths of colour designed by talented florist Robert Hornsby.
3 bronzed water troughs create a visual treat in ‘The Zoe Ball Listening Garden’ by James Alexander-Smith – music pumped below the ground makes the surface water dance in beautiful patterns.
You could not ignore these huge animal sculptures covered with artificial grass on the ‘Easigrass’ show stand.
It might be small but it is perfectly formed in every way – Kazuyuki Ishihara’s gold award artisan garden ‘Gosho No Niwa – No Wall, No War’.
My overall favourite – the vibrant planting in purples, pinks and orange in the people’s choice winner ‘The Morgan Stanley Garden’ by Chris Beardshaw drew audible wows from the crowd.
