The Appeal of Grey Limestone Paving in a Central Newbury Garden
Grey tends to be a less popular colour choice when it comes to paving. Despite this, it has it's own appeal and a number of advantages worth considering.
Not many of our clients currently choose grey paving, usually opting for the paler and creamier tones available in limestone and porcelain, with the firm favourites being ‘Satin Fossil Pearl’ and ‘Premio Sabbia’. This is a shame in my opinion, as grey contrasts so well with brick properties and the green tones found in shrubs and planting. It also does not show the dirt as much as other lighter coloured paving.

Why Grey Limestone Works Here:
In this garden it was the right choice to use ‘Kato’ limestone because:
- the large grey pavers add to the overall contemporary streamlined feel our client was after.
- it makes for a smart pathway down the side of the property.
- grey looks great when it is combined with grey limestone shingle as seen in the edging of the side pathway.
- it ties in very well with the brick and cream walls of the property, as well as the modern dark window frames of the new extension.
Other options to consider if grey is your thing are grey Indian sandstone such as ‘Vintage Kandla’ or ‘Kandla Grey’ or the beautiful and popular ‘Modena Silver’ porcelain paving.
